Is teamLab Planets wheelchair accessible?

Updated October 27, 2026

Quick answer

Partly. Wheelchair users can visit, but they transfer to one of the museum's standard in-house wheelchairs (or fit tire covers to their own), take detour routes around some works and view others only from set points (official notes, checked 27 October 2026). A disability ticket costs from ¥1,900 (about $12), and one companion pays the same.

The museum asks anyone who needs help moving to come with a companion, and the number of in-house wheelchairs is limited, so arrive inside your admission window. The GetYourGuide listing states plainly that some areas are not accessible by wheelchair.

What is level and what is not

The route is built around water, soft floors and darkness. Some works have water up to knee height for adults, one has a soft floor that sinks under your feet, some have mirrored floors, and there are dark areas and "unstable flooring" between works (official notes). For mirrored floors, guests with a total weight above 250 kg, including a wheelchair, may be asked not to enter; staff decide by the floor's condition.

Wheelchairs, scooters and walking aids

On entry, wheelchair users are asked to transfer to an in-house wheelchair, a standard size without special fixtures, and the museum warns there are only a limited number. To use your own chair instead, tire covers must be fitted. Senior carts with handles, and electric wheelchairs that cannot be kept below 2 km/h, must be swapped for an in-house chair. Canes and prosthetic limbs are allowed, though some areas may not be accessible depending on the person and the work; staff explain the route before you go in.

The skip routes

The museum has detour routes for visitors with disabilities and for families who want to skip particular works. Tell a member of staff and they will guide you round. Wheelchair users may be required to take a detour or to see certain works from designated areas; the official site keeps a separate page of frequently asked questions about wheelchair use. Assistance dogs cannot go into the artworks: they wait in a cage the museum provides.

Discounted tickets for visitors with disabilities

The disability Entrance Pass starts at ¥1,900 (about $12) against ¥3,800 (about $24) for an adult, and one accompanying person can buy the same discounted ticket. The companion must enter at the same time. Bring the certificate: the Ticket Store accepts physical and intellectual disability certificates, and its help page says only certificates issued by government authorities in your country of residence are valid. The full price list is on our teamLab Planets ticket price page; the GetYourGuide ticket sold on this site is a standard ticket, so buy this one from the official Ticket Store.

Book with the access needs in mind

Pick a weekday slot outside peak hours, when rooms are less crowded and staff have more time to guide you. Shin-Toyosu Station, three minutes away, is on the Yurikamome, an elevated automated line. If a guided tour suits you better, the Toyosu Market tour's listing on GetYourGuide is the only one here tagged as wheelchair accessible; confirm with the operator before you book.
