Are there lockers at teamLab Planets?
Updated October 27, 2026
Quick answer
Yes. Free lockers are provided just after the entrance gate, each 23 cm wide, 34 cm deep and 37 cm high, and you have to use them: personal belongings are not allowed in the artwork spaces (official notes, checked 27 October 2026). Suitcases too big for a locker are wire-locked in the stroller area.
The other rules that catch people out: there is no re-entry once you pass the exit, staff can ask for ID on junior tickets, you queue at your admission time and may wait 30 to 60 minutes at busy times, and eating, drinking and smoking are banned inside.
Lockers and bags
Because there are dark areas, unstable flooring and works you walk through in water, the museum does not allow personal belongings in the artwork spaces "for safety and hygiene reasons". If you must carry something, such as medication, ask staff. Lockers are free and sit after the entrance gate, where you also take off shoes, socks and tights. At 23 × 34 × 37 cm they take a day bag or a small backpack. Each locker shows a QR code for the teamLab app. Check what to wear to teamLab Planets before you pack. Coming straight from the airport? Large cases go to the stroller area with a wire lock, so travel light or use station lockers first.
Re-entry
Re-entry is not permitted. Once you go out through the exit, your ticket is used, and the museum will not refund it after you have entered. The restaurants inside, Vegan Ramen UZU, Glass House and Emptiness Table, are only reachable after entering, so eat before you leave rather than planning to come back in.
ID at the entrance
Staff may ask for ID to check eligibility for a discounted ticket. For the junior high and high school ticket, any student ID from any country is accepted, or an official document showing age such as a passport. For the disability ticket, bring the certificate. Adult and child tickets need no ID unless staff ask about age, and children under 13 must enter with a guardian aged 18 or over.
The entrance queue
Come to the entrance at the time on your ticket and join the line. The 30 minutes from that time is the window to queue, and the official help page warns that you may still wait 30 to 60 minutes to be admitted. If you must leave the line, someone in your party has to stay; if you are alone, tell a member of staff. Strollers are left in the parking area before entering. The only ticket with priority entry is the ¥12,000 (about $76) Premium Pass.
Free Wi-Fi and other rules
The museum has free Wi-Fi, network name "teamLab Planets", which helps with the app works. Photos and videos are allowed, without flash and without tripods, monopods, selfie sticks or any aid of 30 cm or more. Banned outright: being drunk or rude, eating, drinking or smoking on site, dangerous items, and animals other than assistance dogs. teamLab also says it may film inside the museum and use the images to improve its artworks; tell staff if you object to being featured.
Frequently asked questions
Are the lockers at teamLab Planets free?
Yes. They are free and sit just after the entrance gate.
Can I bring my phone inside?
Yes. Photos are allowed, and some works use the teamLab app. Everything else goes in the locker.
Can I bring a suitcase to teamLab Planets?
It will not fit a locker. The museum wire-locks oversized luggage in the stroller storage area, so it is easier to leave it at your hotel or a station locker.
Can I eat or drink inside?
Not in the exhibition. The ramen shop and cafés inside the ticketed area are the exception.
